BEG CLASS: Fundamentals
7pm—with Jake Spatz

Jump into the beginner classes with Jake and his assistants for a complete introduction to Argentine tango! We rotate partners in class, so come and make some new friends as you learn this wonderful dance. You can join at any time.

We cover the essential vocabulary of traditional tango, including the following basic patterns:

  • The Basics: Core walking patterns
  • Forward & back ochos
  • Rhythmic turns to either side
  • Syncopations: the amague & the traspie
  • Essential floorcraft

    INT CLASS: Tango Salon
    8pm—with Jake Spatz

    Jake's Intermediate class at Eastern Market has been running for 5 years straight. Come learn the elegant figures and combinations that make tango beautiful, creative, and fun!

    You can join this drop-in class at any time. Each class explores a theme for several weeks in a row. We start with review and exercises, and then explore classic material such as:

  • Turns with sacadas
  • The ocho cortado
  • Boleos & adornments
  • Walking variations
  • Paradas & pasadas
